Flat roofing: questions and answers
What is a torch-on roof?
A torch-on roof is two layers of modified bitumen membrane heat-welded to the roof: a base sheet first, then a granulated cap sheet on top. The seams fuse into one continuous waterproof layer.
Can you fix my flat roof without replacing it?
Often, yes. Leaks at seams, drains and flashings can usually be repaired. If the membrane has failed across the roof, we show you photos and quote a replacement.
Do you work on commercial roofs?
Yes. We take on plaza and small commercial flat roofs as well as homes. See the commercial photos on our projects page.
How long does a flat roof last?
A 2-ply modified bitumen roof commonly lasts 15 to 20 years or more when the drains are kept clear and small problems are fixed early.
What warranty do you offer?
Our workmanship comes with a 10-year labour warranty, in writing. If it leaks because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on materials come on top of that; on shingles they usually run 25 to 50 years, depending on the product line.
